Lachit Barphukan is a brave man shining like a star in the history of Assam.

He was born on November 24, 1622. His father's name is Momai Tamuli Barbarua and his mother's name is Kunti Maran. Lachit was the fourth and youngest child of his parents.

Lachit Barphukan was the faithful and suitable commander of the King of the Ahom Empire. The famous Sharaighat war in Assam led by this commander was fought between the Ahom soldiers and the Mughal soldiers.

Lachit Barphukan has been very fearless, honest and outspoken since childhood. Since his father, Ahom King Barbarua, was in office, he had the privilege of witnessing his father's work and discussions with various elders from an early age, and he acquired a lot of knowledge and experience from them.

War of Sharaighat:-

The Battle of Saraighat was fought in 1671.

Ramsingh was the commander in chief of the Mughal army.

This war took place on the Brahmaputra river at Saraighat. Presently Guwahati, Assam, India.

The late Chakradhwaj Singh appointed him as Barphukan as the Commander of Ahom after receiving his prowess from the similar skills and expertise he displayed in front of the enemy in Dikhoumukh during the Assam invasion of Mirjumla.

The Ahom-Mughal war began in 1667. This time too Lasit introduced his valour and chased the Mughal soldiers across the Manah River. This time Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb's General Ram Singh to attack Assam.

Despite seeing the mughal army, Lachit Barphukan urged Assamese soldiers to fight the enemy in a way that did not bother at all and warned everyone not to neglect their duties. He started an average construction work near Amingiva in North Guwahati to block enemy troops and provided his maintenance work to one of his maternal uncles. But with the average construction behind, he beheaded his mother at the average construction site and introduced his patriotism by saying that 'Uncle is no bigger than the country'(Dekhotkoi Mumbai danger nohoi). Everyone was very alarmed to see this statue of him and worked with double the force and overnight completed the average work and gave the Mughal army a block.

In March 1671, the last battle of the Ahom-Mughals and the history-famous Saraighat war took place in which a large Mughal army was defeated before the martial strategy of Lachit Barphukan.

Finally, during this war, Lachit Barphukan had a severe fever, but he forgot about the sickness and took a tough stand, and fought hard to save the country.

Lachit Barphukan died in Guwahati a few days after the Battle of Saraighat.
